NYC Subways Stinks

September 19th, 2009

The NY subway systems are horrible. I know that people say we have the oldest subway system and its hard to maintain, but that still doesn’t justify how bad it is. I’m used to routes being changed on weekeneds and stuff like that, but it should not take over 40 minutes to go 5 stops when it normally takes less than 10 minutes.

NYC should take an example from Asia. Their systems are much for efficient and cleaner. Its definitely less frustrating than the NY system.

People Don't Plan

September 17th, 2009

How come people can’t plan things out? It seems like people always wait until the last minute to do anything at work. People, you have a whole day at work. Do your stuff early and let people leave on time instead of procrastinating and causing people to stay late after work. Arrgggh. Ok I’m done ranting.

Expensive Wine?

September 8th, 2009

I went to North Fork Wine Trails in Long Island yesterday with my girlfriend. We went to a couple of wineries to sample what they had.

At one of the inexpensive wineries, I overheard this fellow talking. He siad that $35 for a bottle of wine is too expensive. Now there is nothing wrong with that if he doesn’t like wine, but the guy was talking like he was some wine expert. He was trying to sound all sophisticate while sipping his inexpensive wine and talking about how amazing the wine is.

This amused me quite a bit. I’m no wine expert, but I was able to taste the difference between the expensive wines and the inexpensive wines (without looking at the prices, in case your thinking prices affected my perception of the wine). So either this guy has really bad tastes, he’s the and cheapest wanna be I’ve ever seen, or more likely both.

People act so funny when they try to be something they’re not.

Cheap People

August 23rd, 2009

I now some people are frugal, but today I saw something that just makes me go “wow.”

I went to the NYC Japan day fair and then walked around the “regular” street fairs. One of the booths was for kettle corn, and they were giving out free samples for all of their varieties of kettle corn. Most New Yorkers take a handful to taste, and most don’t buy. It’s free so why not try some right? Nothing wrong with that.

Well this one old lady comes there with a shopping bag, takes a sample container and starts pouring as much as she can into her shopping bag. Seriously, how cheep do are you to do that? If you like it, buy it. I could not believe that this old lady was that cheap. Of couse the vendor saw her do this and stopped her, but not before she got a decent amount of kettle corn in her bag.

I would just be plain embarrassed if I was caught doing that but I guess some pople have no shame.

Bowling

August 23rd, 2009

I played bowling today with some friends and I rediscovered something that I knew for a while. I really suck at it. I really have to shape up. There are too many things that I suck at. I think I’ll try playing a bit more for practice so my score doesn’t always come in last place.

This has been some of my random ramblings.

Bar Car

August 21st, 2009

I am lying down in an almost empty bar car on the Metro North. After a long day at work, I met up with my friend for a few drinks. Now I’m on my way back to the city, over an hour on the train. Its the first time the train is so empty, and I can afford to lay down and rest.

As I look up at the ceiling, I wonder if there is more to life. I feel like it’s the same routine every day. Going to work day in and day out. Sure we meet up with friends once in a while, but essentially, work dominates our lives. How do you break out of that cycle without breaking out of society?

Mobile Update

August 17th, 2009

So I know I’m bad with updates. I’d like to think its because I’m too busy and don’t have time to sit down at my computer to blog instead of being a lazy bum, but I think its a little of both. But that MIGHT change soon.

I had a G1 for a while and I’ve come to depends on the internet connection it has. I didn’t realize how useful it was until I started using it to update everything. For example, my facebook account was hardly used but since I can quickly, and that’s the magic word, access it from anywhere, I actually started using it more.

I recently found out about an app for my android phone to update my blog called wp2go. Hopefully this will give me the motivation to update more. Now I just have to find a way to have this feed into my facebook account.

I’ve added a whole bunch of pics from the past year.  Yes. I’m bad with posting, but life has been busy.  That’s a good thing.

Enjoy.

Delayed Flights Sucks!!!

December 21st, 2008

2008.12.20

Impressions
My flight back from Nice was quite an ordeal. The actual flights themselves were good. It’s everything else that sucked.  My flight from Nice to London was delayed and we landed a hour twenty minutes late. I’m ok with a little delay, but not when that cuts into my flight connection time.  Objective: Go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5 to catch my flight in less than 30 minutes. I literally ran with my carry-ons through terminals and escalators, caught a bus to get to the right terminal, and caught a train to get to the proper gate.  All of this just to make my connecting flight. I never thought I could cover so much ground in so little time. I guess i looked really bad when I got there because someone asked if I was OK since I was sweating like a pig.

Luckily I caught the flight, but I don’t think British Airways thought I would.  While I was seated, the flight attendant asked to see my ticket and said, “Oh, you made it…”  I guess that should have warned me because when I got to JFK, they didn’t have my suitcase.  Nope.  It’s still in London at Terminal 5.  The joys of traveling.

What I Did
Car to Nice airport
Return car rental (bye bye Mercedes E220)
Fly out to London
Sprint to catch connecting flight to New York
Land in JFK and see my girlfriend ^_^
