Brother Jimmy's BBQ

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Brother Jimmy's BBQI went to have some happy hour today with some friends. Yes, I know its a Monday, but Brother Jimmy’s BBQ has an all-you-can-eat wings, riblets and beer on Monday nights for $15.95.

We started the night off eating and drinking, of course. The wings were ok. There was nothing special about them. It was your standard wings with buffalo sauce. We would have enjoyed it better if the wings were battered before the sauce was added.

The riblets struck us when we had them. Considering how cheap it was for the special, I didn’t expect the riblets to be as good as they were. They weren’t the best ribs I’ve had, nor are they anywhere close, but for the price, pretty damn good. The meat was tender, had a nice smokey bbq flavor, and the meat fell off the bone nicely. There were some pieces of fat there that I did not care for, but with all-you-can-eat, you can just eat the parts that you like.

When we asked for more wings and ribs, we expected them to be stingy and bring out less food. Were we wrong. They brought out the same amount of food, if not more for our second and thrid rounds. We were so full that we could not eat another bite. Next time, we’ll skip the wings and go straight for the riblets only.
While we were eating and drinking, we were talking about life and the universe, making fun of Dave, and looking at some of the nice girls at the place. The place was pretty packed and there were some nice hotties at the place. Not too shabby. Not to shabby at all. All in all, it was a good night.
If anyone wants more info on the place, check out their website. They have other locations too.

WordPress 2.0.4

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

I finally had some time to upgrade my WordPress installation to version 2.0.4. Its suppose to be mainly security fixes so it shouldn’t affect my site too much.

I’ve also added the plugin ZenShow to show four random photos to the sidebar of my site straight from my ZenPhoto albums. It seems to work just fine.

Please let me know if you see any bugs on the site.

Ushi Wakamaru

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

Ushi WakamaruI had sushi with my girlfriend at Ushi Wakamaru today. I’m not a big sushi lover, but I really enjoyed the food there. This is one of those places where the sushi is very fresh and authentic. My girfeind’s been there several times before so she knows on of the chefs pretty well. We sat at the bar and had a great time as he played around with us while preparing and serving us our food.

Last time I was there, we sat right in front of the chef. He prepared some sweet shrimp for us, soemthing I won’t forget. He took some live shrimp that were moving around and pretty much cut up the shrimps right in front of us. That took me quite by surprised. I don’t exactly like seeing my food moving in front of me right before I eat it. At least its fresh.

Our meal costs about $235 including tax and big tip. It sounds expensive, but for the quality of the fish, its not too bad. Idefinitly can’t afford to go here all the time, but I don’t mind going there once in a while to eat fresh good sushi (and after I save up enough money). My gilfriend is a sushi fanatic, and she loves that place. Check it out if your in the mood for some authentic fresh sushi, and you have a few (ok, a lot of) extra bucks saved up.

Now That's HIP! Movie Nights

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

Today, I hung out with some friends at the Now That’s HIP! Movie Nights. HIP is sponsoring a movie night at the outdoor terrace at 55 Water Street here in NY. They were even giving out some free popcorn and free bottles of water to enjoy.

We brought some extra cookies and chips, along with some blankets, and just enjoyed the nice weather for a change. I’ts been really hot and humid the past few days so it was great to enjoy the good weather outdoors.

They played Barefoot in the Park. It wasn’t the best movie in the world, but its for for free so you can’t really complain. They’ll have more movie nights for the next few Tuesdays, so check out their site and enjoy.

Plasmas Are a Girl's Best Friend

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

It looks like diamonds are no longer a girl’s best friend. According to a survey by market researcher TRU, it looks like women are more tech savy than most people thought. Almost half of them even do their own PC troubleshooting. For gifts, it looks like they would prefer tech gifts rather than jewerly.

It found that given the choice, women would opt for tech items rather than luxury items like jewellery or holidays.

The study found 77 per cent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 per cent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend in Florida.

Now if I can only convince my girlfriend to stop liking diamonds.

Batman Sequel Confirmed

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

Batman BeginsBatman is returning!!!

The sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, is set to begin production in early 2007. Christopher Nolan will once again direct the sequel. Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman. So who’s the villian? Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain) has been cast as The Joker. I can’t wait to see how Nolan continues this story.

I loved the Batman Begins more than the first Batman movie by Tim Burton so I can’t wait for this to hit the big screen. Yes. I know. I sound like a fan boy, but atleast i’m not saying that this movie “is good” even before it started shooting like a friend does.
